Where Is Your Faith?

He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.

When you face difficult times, do you tend to wig-out? The disciples did when they were caught in a violet storm; screaming frantically as they bailed the water from the boat and wrangled with the unruly sails. By the time they woke up Jesus, they were hysterical, but Jesus calmed the wind and waves and asked them a question I am sure embarrassed them: “Where is your faith?”

Jesus asks us the same when we panic, cower, worry, fret. and behave as if we do not remember Who He is. When the Lord does just what He promised, our spiritual amnesia disappears and we wonder why we ever doubted.

If we want to grow to where our faith does not drown in the storm, we must keep Jesus in the forefront of our mind. Seek always to magnify Him, to keep Him at His proper size so that when storms come, they dwarf next to the Almighty! Sing His praises, read His Word, and worship Him daily and your faith will not be hard to find when the storms come.

Question: Observe how the world behaves in the face of the current Corona Virus scare. How do we as believers mirror those who do not know Him? How are we different?

Welcome to Myencourageyou.com! I am Dr. Georgia Pointer, a Christian writer who loves encouraging people in their relationship with Christ. I am a survivor of childhood rape and molestation, bullying, and emotional abuse. Negative thought patterns plagued me for many years until I learned to allow Christ and His Word to encourage and transform those thoughts. This background provides me with a passion to offer the same encouragement to anyone, not just abuse survivors, with the light of biblical truth that shines against the darkness of negativity, lies of the enemy, and daily struggles in living for Christ. I am a seminary graduate with a Masters in Christian Education. I also recently received my doctorate in Christian Counseling with a specialty in Family and Substance Abuse counseling. I served on staff for six years as a counselor at Moriah House of the Memphis Union Mission. I love the Word of God! I love studying it, teaching it, and speaking in public about it any chance I get. This blog, which I post about once a week, is my venue to share insights I glean. I invite you to subscribe to receive my weekly posts in your email and to share these posts with anyone you think might be encouraged by them.

  1. We are different because we know He will provide. I have let my faith fail me over the years more than I can count. After the worry subsided I found myself always saying….yes, You were there. You provided and i have nothing to worry about. Even when we have tornado warnings, severe thunderstorms…..I sleep well through it all. Conner does as well. No need to get, because right in the moment you think something is not possible, or you worry how is this going to be possible…..God is working in our lives.
