Walk By Faith

“for we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

You might look like you are crazy when you walk by faith, but that is ok. You are in good company. Noah built an ark in preparation for something that had never come before, rain (Genesis 6:13-17; 2:5). Abraham believed God would give him a son though he and his wife were old. He also pitched his tent in a land that did not belong to him, believing God would give that land to his family (Hebrews 11:9; Genesis 15:4-6). From the outside, they looked ridiculous, but from the inside, their faith had a phenomenal and inspiring glow.

Our problem is that we dodge between the inner and outer view and frustrate ourselves. God makes us a promise and we believe it until we start looking at it from a natural perspective. We start to doubt and even ridicule ourselves for believing the impossible. The realm of the impossible is God’s home turf and those who desire any hope of pleasing Him must get used to living there as well. Amazing things happen when we walk by faith because the One Who made great and precious promises is also amazing. God places His promises way out in the middle of the sea so that we have to walk on the water of faith to get to them. The view from there will bless your soul, increase your faith, and cause you to see God in a way you never would had you stayed in the boat of human reasoning.

I know it is hard to stop the wobble between belief and unbelief, but take courage, My Friend, God is not turned off by your wobble as long as you determine to step out in spite of it. Refuse  to insist on an answer to every “what if” and “but what about.” Allow the truth that the God inviting you to fly is also the Author of aerodynamics. He loves you and is desiring to lead you to the abundant life He payed so much for you to have.

Just take it a moment at a time, do not look at everything all at once or you may lose your nerve. Do not listen to the voice in your head. Ignore the naysayers in your life who mock from the place God called them to leave but they refused. If your marching orders have come from the King of Kings, success is a  guarantee. You just need to walk it out My Friend, yes, walk by faith.

Talk to me: What area of your life is God calling you to walk by faith? What usually causes you to waver in your faith? What gets you back on track?

Welcome to Myencourageyou.com! I am Dr. Georgia Pointer, a Christian writer who loves encouraging people in their relationship with Christ. I am a survivor of childhood rape and molestation, bullying, and emotional abuse. Negative thought patterns plagued me for many years until I learned to allow Christ and His Word to encourage and transform those thoughts. This background provides me with a passion to offer the same encouragement to anyone, not just abuse survivors, with the light of biblical truth that shines against the darkness of negativity, lies of the enemy, and daily struggles in living for Christ. I am a seminary graduate with a Masters in Christian Education. I also recently received my doctorate in Christian Counseling with a specialty in Family and Substance Abuse counseling. I served on staff for six years as a counselor at Moriah House of the Memphis Union Mission. I love the Word of God! I love studying it, teaching it, and speaking in public about it any chance I get. This blog, which I post about once a week, is my venue to share insights I glean. I invite you to subscribe to receive my weekly posts in your email and to share these posts with anyone you think might be encouraged by them.
